Fun down under
What was your motivation to take a gap break?
Me and my boyfriend split up and I wanted to get as far away as possible from him, plus id always wanted to travel, so it seemed like the perfect time whilst I wasn't tied down.

How did you feel before you joined the programme?
Dead excited!! I read, and re read the itinerary everyday for about a month!!!!!! I was nervous as well though, I was nervous about going on the cable cars and up the Sydney tower because I hate heights….and also I was worried about being home sick. But I've been here a month now, and I'm loving it!
How did Real Gap assist you? How did they compare with your expectations?
They exceeded my expectations of what I expected. They really do look after you and make sure your ok, which is really what you need so far away from home. And obviously the idea of the week is to have fun, which I really really did. Pablo made it the best week of my life to date….

What did you think of the programme? The programme was great, it all went together very well, and it was good to have our free day as the first day because I was so jetlagged!! The activities were great, and it's a really good way to be introduced to Sydney, because it also helped me find my bearings too.
What was the accommodation like? Excellent! I've been staying in wake up now for about 3 weeks, and I love it. The Side bar is the place to be, the TV room is comfy, and it's a great way to meet people. You're never alone, there are always people to talk to. The reception is always there to help as well, 24 hours a day, which is always good to know you have back up if you need it. The food is amazing…the special they done each night were a bargain, and filled an empty tummy and lined one for drinking!! |

What was the most memorable moment of your trip?
I couldn't possible pull out one single memory as my favourite but sticking out in my mind right now, it was amazing to feed the kangaroos, I loved it and didn't want to leave them, especially the little Joey. Also going up the Sydney tower was so frightening, but once I made it the views were stunning. You can see so much, and it makes a great photo.

Did your programme and destination meet your expectations? Any anecdotes?
Yes very much so…Sydney is even better than I imagined it too. When I found out we were wine tasting, I didn't think much of it, but it was a really good day out, it was a lot better than I expected.
What do you feel you accomplished during your programme?
I am getting closer to conquering my fear of heights….
|
How have you benefited from your experience? How have you changed?
I have definitely benefited from this experience. I feel I am a more confident person, and you really get to know yourself even better than you thought you did. Being away from the people you love, means you have to adapt, and this was a great way of learning this. Also it's been a benefit that I have made some truly great friends that I think I will always remain in contact with. |
 |
What advice could you offer to someone considering this programme?
Do it!!! Just do it!! Don't worry about being on your own, you will all be in a group, who are all in the same boat and make so many friends. It will be one of the best weeks of your life I can guarantee.
