Why should I take a year out?

Why should I take a year out? Here are some good enough reasons why you should take a year out. If you need us to persuade you further then give our team a call!
- Why should I take a year out? Because you deserve it!
Playschool, nursery school, primary school, secondary school and sixth form college. That's a lot of studying, particularly when you hit GCSEs and A Levels. If you've got a place at uni or are intending to apply, you've got at least three more years of studying ahead of you. So, why not have a break so you can start your course feeling fresh and full of the joys of Fiji?
- Why should I take a year out? Because you want to try something different, or maybe just try something!
Having been immersed in academic or vocational studies for the last few years, you might want to try something that's not on the curriculum. Like kite surfing, scuba diving or just experiencing a country through one of our Gap Year Expeditions.
Or, you might be considering a career in something such as teaching, but aren't really sure. Doing a teaching programme is the perfect way to get a feel for it, and have fun at the same time. You might decide it's definitely for you, or you might realise it's not, but either way you'll have had an incredible experience.
- Why should I take a year out? Because it'll show employers that you're a dynamic, go-for-it kind of person!
And also, a responsible, well-rounded individual who isn't afraid to get out of their comfort zone and do something different. If you can adapt to life in a Nepalese village, they figure, you should be pretty good at coping with the challenges they want to throw at you. Use your gap year on your CV (see our Putting your gap on your CV page) to suggest to them that you're more responsible and mature than other applicants.
- Why should I take a year out? Because you can!
Stop and think for a minute. You have at least 12 months ahead of you. The chances are you don't have any binding commitments, like a mortgage or children, so make the most of a year when the only limits are you.
