This trip has two options:

Fancy extending your time in Australia? Book the 6 week option and spend an additional 7 days in and around Sydney before your East Coast tour starts! You’ll see the city on a tour, enjoy a trip around Sydney Harbour aboard a private catamaran, experience a 2 day getaway on Bondi Beach, a Sydney bar crawl and a breathtaking beach walk from Coogee to Bondi. You can also see the amazing Blue Mountains on a day trip!
On day 8, you’ll join the 5 week trip and follow the longer itinerary below:
5 week option: Sydney to Cairns
Day 1: Sydney - Say hello to Sydney as your adventure of a lifetime starts today. Meet your group and trip leader for a welcome meeting, then head out for a guided tour of the beautiful city before boarding an overnight bus to Byron Bay.
Days 2-5: Byron Bay - Arrive in the hippie town of Byron Bay and chill out on the breathtaking golden sands. Gaze out at the aqua blue ocean and make a splash on a surfing lesson. Then enjoy a fun wine and cheese night in with your travel buddies.
Days 6-8: Surfers Paradise - Top up your tan in this epic beachside city. Watch the crashing waves roll over the glittering beach before experiencing the best hotspots in town as the sun goes down. Then heat up the grill as you crack open a few cold ones at a sausage sizzle.
Days 9-10: Brisbane - Discover the towering skyscrapers and giant river waters of beautiful Brisbane over the next two days with your group. See Streets Beach and hit the bustling bars in the evening. This city will knock your socks off!
Days 11-12: Noosa - Wave goodbye to the hustle and bustle of city life as you venture towards the striking natural scenery of Noosa. Think lush green forests and glistening sands with the most astonishing panoramic views.
Days 13-14: Rainbow Beach - Take in the sea breeze at the gorgeous Rainbow Beach and hike across the coastline. Catch an incredible sunset over K'gari (formerly known as Fraser Island) before going on an unforgettable dolphin encounter the next day.
Days 15-17: K'gari - Journey to the magical bliss of K'gari as you drive across glittering sands in a 4x4 and jump in the crystal clear waters of the champagne pools. Hike to the Indian Heads Lookout before camping on the beach.
Days 18-20: Town of 1770 - Be enchanted by the untouched beaches of the Town of 1770, the perfect place to break up your journey to the Whitsunday Islands. Explore the towns incredible coastal trails and relaxation vibes, or head out on a scooteroo tour for a unqiue way get around!
Days 21-23: Whitsunday Islands Cruise - Set sail towards the dreamy Whitsunday Islands and float around in a yacht for 3 days in paradise. Sleep under the stars, swim with tropical fish and sunbathe on the deck.
Days 24-25: Airlie Beach - Unwind in Airlie Beach for the next two days and laze on the wonderful beach. Grab the group and party into the night. Then discover the beautiful surroundings in the national park. Why not go on a helicopter ride too whilst you’re at it?
Days 26-28: Magnetic Island - Take a wander around Magnetic Island and spot the many animals and wildlife. Lose yourself on this beautiful island escape for the next few days and go on a fascinating guided tour of the Forts Walk.
Days 29-30: Mission Beach - See the swaying palm trees and the shining azure blue ocean as you take in incredible sunrises and sunsets at Mission Beach - don’t forget to take a few snapshots! Uncover the wonderful nearby National Park or opt to go skydiving (extra cost)!
Days 31-35: Cairns - Make the most of your final few days Down Under in the ultimate backpacker destination of Cairns. Experience the spectacular Atherton Tablelands, delve into the Great Barrier Reef on a snorkel trip and see the rushing waterfalls and scale the natural rock slides. It’s truly heaven on earth!
Day 36: Tour ends - Pack your bags and wave goodbye to Oz as you make your way back to the airport to fly home. Remember to stay in touch with your new travelling friends!

35 or 42 nights of accommodation are included on this trip depending on whether you choose the 5 week or 6 week option. You will be staying in mixed hostel dorms, sleeping between 4 and 12 people. Two nights will be spent on overnight transport, two nights will be spent camping on K'gari, and two nights will be spent on board a maxi yacht. Private rooms upgrades are available at extra cost. The majority of the journeys on the tour will be by coach. The coaches used are modern and comfortable, with USB sockets, wifi (connection dependant) and reclining seats. The overnight coaches also have even more legroom (more than most airlines!), as well as reclining seats, so you'll get a great nights sleep.
9 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 6 dinners are inlcuded in the 6 week tour. You will need to purchase the majority of meals yourself. There are a great range of restaurants and backpacker bars where you can find delicious meals throughout this trip.
Alternatively, why not prepare meals in the hostel kitchens? Preparing your own meals is a fantastic way to save the pennies We recommend budgeting around AUD30-50 per day for food and drink.
For both the 5 week and 6 week options, your tour begins at around 11am on day 1 in Sydney. Due to this early start time, we recommend you arrive into Australia the day before and book an extra night of accommodation in Sydney. Please speak to a travel advisor for more information and assistance in booking this. An airport transfer is included.
If you are on the 6 week tour and you do not arrive in time for the 11am meeting, you can meet your group at 7pm that day instead. However this is not possible for those on the 5 week trip as you will be taking the overnight bus out of Sydney that evening.
You will need to go to a pre-set meeting point at Sydney airport and a greeter will direct you to the shuttle bus which will take you directly to your hostel to begin your first week of fun and adventure!

On your end date the tour will finish in the morning in Cairns. A return airport transfer is not included but is easy to arrange locally.
The minimum age for this trip is 18 years old. This trip is designed for travellers aged 18-35 years old.
All visitors to Australia (except those from New Zealand) will require a visa or e-visa/ETA to enter. These must be applied for before departure, and if you’re planning on working in Australia, you’ll need a Working Holiday Visa. If you are just heading to Australia for fun however, an ETA will suffice. Both visas can be applied for online.

Most trips include a meeting on arrival with the guide or local team to discuss the trip, and this is an opportunity for you to ask any questions. You should arrive in time to attend these briefings.

Should you require medical assistance whilst travelling, the local team or guide will be able to help you get to a point of care. Medical facilities and standards can vary across the glove, so you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place.
Varying group sizes
To begin with, many trips will run with amended group sizes, so you may find smaller groups than would be typical. This may vary by trip, or even by individual departure dates.
Whilst there may be changes on our trips, it is vital that you make travelling safer for yourself, your travel companions, the local staff and guides, and the people of the country you are visiting. You should follow all local laws and restrictions, and follow the guidance of the local team. In addition, you can help make travel safer by bringing and using your own face coverings/masks and hand sanitiser, social distance where appropriate, wash your hands frequently, and cover your face when coughing or sneezing.
