Trip Info

Day 1: Kuta

Welcome to beautiful Bali! On day one, you’ll be collected from the airport and taken to your accommodation in Kuta. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the rest of the group and get your bearings and, depending on the time you arrive, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the town, chill out on the white sandy beaches, or try out a blissful Balinese massage before sitting down to a welcome dinner and relaxing with a few drinks in the evening.

Day 2: Uluwatu Temple

On day two we'll visit the beautiful Uluwatu Temple, regarded as one of the most important temples in Bali, and fit in a fun but chilled out surfing lesson and spend some time riding the waves, before pulling out the glad rags and spending an evening enjoying the famous Kuta nightlife.

Day 3: Tanah Lot Temple & Monkey Forest

Today, on route to Ubud, the group will visit Tanah Lot Temple, one of the most photographed temples in Bali. We’ll be visiting Monkey Forest afterwards to have lunch with the cheeky locals before unwinding with some time in the afternoon to explore the colourful local markets and find out more about Bali’s culture and history.

Day 4: Ubud community & Tegenungan Waterfall

This morning we’re visiting a local primary school, where you’ll spend time in class talking to some of the children and finding out about Balinese life – prepare to have you heart melted by happy smiles. Afterwards we’ll visit the stunning natural Tegenungan Waterfall for a quick dip beneath the cascading water.

Day 5: Ubud coffee plantations & rice terraces

On day five, we'll take a trip to a nearby coffee plantation to find out how the world’s most expensive coffee is made before having lunch with views over an active volcano. Later on we’ll walk through the striking emerald rice terraces that Ubud is so well-known for.

Day 6: Gili Trawangan

Boarding the boat to the gorgeous Gili islands today, we’ll get settled into our beachside hotel before checking out the rest of the island with a bicycle tour. In the evening we’ll watch the sun setting over the sea as we’re getting geared up for tonight’s beach party.

Day 7: Island hopping

We’ll spend today island-hopping and visiting some of the best snorkelling sites in Indonesia. The crystal clear waters and tropical coral reefs are incredible climates for spotting and swimming with some incredible marine life including sea turtles. In the evening we’ll have dinner as a group and party the night away to say farewell to those leaving the island tomorrow.

Day 8: Depart or travel on

If you’re leaving the tour today, you’ll need to make travel arrangements to get back to Denpasar – see flight details or FAQs for further information.

If you’re booked on the extended tour, you’ll have a bit of chill out time today, so spend your downtime whiling away the afternoon in a hammock, enjoying a few drinks poolside, or brushing up on your surfing skills. Later on you’ll take part in a traditional Indonesian cooking lesson and get to enjoy the fruits of your labour afterwards when we sit down to tuck in to our well-earned feast!

Day 9: Kuta Lombok

This morning we’re making our way to Kuta Lombok, stopping on the way for a rare opportunity to meet the Sasak tribe and have a look around the village. You’ll get to talk to members of the tribe and find out more about the traditional customs in their community while having a go at making a sarong. At Kuta, we’ll stretch out to a yoga class before dinner on the beach.

Day 10: Sun, sea & surf

Today it’s all about beautiful sun-drenched beaches as we cruise from Mawun beach in the morning to SelongBelanak beach in time for lunch. In the afternoon we’ll take to the waves with our second surf lesson before heading to a lookout point to witness incredible views over Lombok by sunset.

Day 11: Lovina

Leaving Lombok today, we’ll board the boat back to Bali – heading to the north of the island this time. We’ll arrive at our accommodation in Lovina in time for a bit of rest and relaxation before heading out for dinner and drinks in the evening.

Day 12: Marine life in Lovina

Back at sea for the morning, we’ll be heading out early to sail alongside dolphins as they dive through the waves. Afterwards we’ll get to have a closer look at the colourful marine life with a snorkelling session. We’ll visit the hot springs in the afternoon before making our way to the impressive Gitgit falls for a dip in the cool waters.

Day 13: Farewell

We’ll make the journey back to Kuta on our final day in Bali before saying our goodbyes. If you want to ask about onward travels or get recommendations from your group leader for other places to visit before heading home, now’s your chance.

More night time activities other than just drinking.

Take mozzy spray! And a travellers rucksack not a suitcase

What were the highlights of your trip?

Getting to do so many activities and visit so many places, especially the Gili Islands! Snorkelling was so much fun even if it was a bit scary. Every day was a lot of fun and we did so much.

Is there anything else you would have liked to have added to your itinerary?

It would have been nice if the visit to Tanah Lot temple was timed for when it was low tide so that we could see it close up. It also would be nice to go to more local food outlets as I would have liked to have tried the local delicacies!

Tips for other travellers?

Bring lots of sun cream, and a rain mac for Ubud!

Any other comments?

A really good trip, I am already looking at booking my next trip with Real Gap Experience based on this one being so good!

What were the highlights of your trip?

The highlights of the trip was learning how to surf, snorkelling with turtles, hiking around the beautiful rice terraces and meeting the really cute and friendly children from the local primary school!

Is there anything else you would have liked to have added to your itinerary?

I would've liked to visit elephants or a zoo. I also would've liked a yoga or cooking lesson within the tour too

Tips for other travellers?

Pack as lightly as you can - buy most toiletries and clothes out there because it's very cheap! Take a few days either before or after the trip because during the tour it's very busy

Is there anything else you would have liked to have added to your itinerary?

Nothing I can think of at the moment.

Tips for other travellers?

Bring good bug spray, especially for the Monkey Forest. Put multiple layers of sunscreen on your back when you go snorkeling.

Drink Pocari Sweat - it's the greatest.

What were the highlights of your trip?

The whole trip was so good it's hard to pick a highlight. The morning at the waterfall, snorkelling and the rice fields would probably be the top highlights. The guides on the trip were amazing and really knew their stuff

Is there anything else you would have liked to have added to your itinerary?

An extra day in Ubud would probably help as that would allow for a volcano hike or day to explore.

Tips for other travellers?

1) Barter for everything in the shops, you'll save a fortune. 2) don't use the tap water to brush your teeth (a couple of people did in my group and while they didn't get ill their stomachs weren't right the whole trip). 3) Add on a extra days at the end, many of the group will do the same and you can all meet up after and do other things after the trip; I'd recommend Waterbom water park in Kuta if a few of you stay there after!

What were the highlights of your trip?

Surfing in Kuta was amazing - the perfect way to get rid of a hangover. Ubud was a lot of fun but my favourite was Gili T - snorkelling in crystal clear water was incredible with beautiful scenery, wildlife and people all around ;)

Is there anything else you would have liked to have added to your itinerary?

Not that I can think of...

Tips for other travellers?

1.) Smile - whether you're haggling prices, asking for directions or ordering a well deserved beer. Everyone understands a smile and you're much more likely to get a better out come if you're friendly. 2.) Make the most of every opportunity that comes up - when will you be in Bali again? 3.) Pack light - you don't want to be carrying around loads of things. I lived in swim shorts and a vest top for most of the 8 days.

Any other comments?

Great value for money. Worth spending a few extra days on and around Gili T at the end of the tour
