Starting in China’s capital city of Beijing, you’ll travel down the east coast to Shanghai, stopping off at some incredible places along the way. We’ve included some unforgettable activities to make your time in China extra special… Camping on the Great Wall of China anyone?
With tons of additional optional activities to choose from like joining the Drunken Dragon bar crawl, visiting the Forbidden City, hiking to Moganshan Peak and enjoying a Chinese-style Friday night at KTV Karaoke, there is plenty for you to experience.

Day 1: Welcome to China!
Today is your arrival today, so you can arrive in Beijing at any time and make yourself comfortable in your accommodation. You have free time today, so why not head out and starting exploring!
Day 2: Hike the Great Wall
You’ll meet your group and tour leader this morning and head off for a Mandarin lesson. Then it’s time to hit Beijing’s streets to test your language skills! This afternoon, enjoy a local lunch and view unrestored sections of the Great Wall. We’ll then hike up the Great Wall for an unforgettable night of camping!
(Please note; the weather is too cold to camp outside between September and the end of April. If you have booked to travel over these dates, you will stay in a guest house near the wall instead of camping. Don’t worry; we’ll still make sure you get to see the sun set and rise over the wall)
Day 3: Sunrise over the Great Wall
Rise early for spectacular sun rise views of the Great Wall. Be sure to take some epic snap shots! Back in Beijing, opt to visit the Olympic Bird’s nest Stadium, watch an energetic Chinese Acrobatics performance or tasting Beijing’s signature dish! Just let your guide know which activities you’d like to participate in.
Day 4: Explore Beijing
Today you’ll explore Beijing with some optional activities! Walk through Tiananmen Square, visit the sprawling Forbidden City, check out the Night Market for some exotic delicacies or visit Jingshan Park!
Day 5: Hangzhou and Moganshan
Opt to visit the Temple of Heaven today, the world’s largest complex dedicated to heaven worship! This afternoon we’ll transfer to Hangzhou and head onto Moganshan!
Day 6: Explore Deqing and Monganshan
Once we’ve arrived into Hangzhou we’ll grab a tasty breakfast before transferring to Deging. Then it’s time to check out Mogan Mountain, famous for incredible bamboo forests! This afternoon you’ll have the option to hike to Moganshan Peak and visit Chairman Mao’s previous summer residence.
Day 7: Lagoon Trek and transfer to Shanghai
After breakfast we’ll trek to some crystal clear lagoons where you can swim and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. This afternoon we’ll board the bullet train to Shanghai , where you can opt to spend the evening enjoying the Shanghai Drunken Dragon Pub Crawl – A much-loved optional activity for anybody who likes to party!
Days 8-9: Exploring Shanghai
You’ll have a couple of free days in Shanghai, and there’s plenty to do! Visit ZhuJiaJiao Water town, find a karaoke hotspot or head to the busiest shopping street in the world: Nanjing Road. You’ll also have the option to sip champagne whilst sitting in a hot-tub on the top floor of skyscraper!
Day 10: Free time in Shanghai
Today is a free day with no activities planned, so head out and explore this iconic city some more and grab some last minute souvenirs and delicious food before you start thinking about heading home.
Day 11: Time to say goodbye!
All good things must come to an end and its time to make tracks and head home today or continue with your travels independently. There are no activities planned for today so you are free to depart at any time.

Accommodation & Meals
You will spend one night camping on the Great Wall of China (weather dependant) where you will stay in a tent and sleeping bag that has been provided by the in-country team. One night will be spent on a night train, where you will have a fully flat bed.
Every other night on your trip will be spent in hostels which have been chosen because of their great atmosphere, location and hygiene. You'll be sharing mixed sex dorms which normally contain 4-12 beds.
Food is not included on the trip, but our guide will always offer to take you to a local restaurant where they can arrange a great discount for you. You should budget approximately 30CNY per meal (25 CNY for breakfast). If you want to eat cheaper than that, then your guides can help you order basic and delicious fried noodles/fried rice for 10CNY per dish.

You should arrange your flights to arrive into Beijing International Airport on your programme start date. Your programme ends in Shanghai, so please arrange your flights home or onward travel from Shanghai Airport for your programme end date.

It is your responsibility to have the correct personal documents and to obtain your own visa, if one is necessary, in accordance with the regulations of the country you are to visit. To enter mainland China
For stays of up to 30 days, citizens of the European Union, the USA, Australia and New Zealand must obtain a Tourist (type L) visa in advance of travel. Visas can be obtained from your local embassy and must be used within 3 months of issue.
As part of your visa application you will need an 'Invitation Letter' which we will provide for you as a document on your Online Account. Please request this letter from us. It contacts all the accommodation details you require to obtain your L visa
You will need to apply for your visa through a Chinese embassy or consulate and you should consult your relevant embassy for detailed instructions.
