Ben and Harriet's Thailand Adventure - Day 14

By Gap 360

Last updated: 9th April 2013

Over the past few weeks, a few members of the Gap 360 team have been jetting off to some of our epic locations in South East Asia to check out our projects and experiences. Now's the time for Ben and Harriet to conquer Thailand. They're going to be travelling around and trying all things Thai for the next two weeks so expect updates galore from the troublesome twosome!

Day 14

Hi there, it's Harriet again. Thought I'd take over the blogging baton from Ben for the last couple of days!

After leaving Koh Tao we boarded the ferry to the stunning Koh Phangan. Luckily we prebooked the tickets (as they were fully booked!) - we reckon this was because of the Full Moon Party that was due to kick off the following day!

The ferry took 1 hour and we jumped in a taxi to our Thai Adventure final week's accommodation, Mac Bay Resort. This place was beautiful! It's based on a very quiet white sandy beach with crystal clear waters - it was paradise! We checked into our cute little beach cabins (which were really nice inside) and then had lunch by the ocean at the resort.

All of this travelling had started to take its toll, so we decided to have a nap for an hour or two. My friend from home has been living on the island for a few months so I messaged him to let him know we had arrived and Ben went off to sleep. My buddy drove over on his moped and took me out on a little tour of the North of the island. It was beautiful! We drove through the jungle, secluded beaches and stopped to take a photo of me perched on a horizontal growing palm tree!

We grabbed a beer from '7 Eleven' and went up to where he was staying with another friend from home. They made me so jealous - their place had an incredible view of the island and the ocean and they even had an infinity pool!

Time was ticking by and I had to get back to wake up Ben and fill him in on the evenings plans with the guys. My friend drove me back and after a quick shower me and Ben heading back up to their place for the sunset and surprise, surprise more beers.

That night we went to see a very famous Thai reggae band called 'Job to Do' at a local festival. It was really fun as their were hardly any tourists there and lots of street food and market stalls to sample! We grabbed a table, drank even more beer and sat back and enjoyed the tunes! All in all, it was a great first evening on Koh Phangan.
