G'day! We've been in Sydney for around 4 months now, so we like to think we're pretty clued up on the nightlife! Here's our top 5 of the best places to hang out down under.
1. Sidebar
I think this has to be our favourite place. Its based at WakeUp hostel, which is where you'll stay if you go for Real Gap's Paid work and Sydney intro programme. Its got quiz nights, live music, as well as cheap drinks and a happy hour! Also, if you go on a Wednesday night, then you get 2 free drinks, free chips and wedges, plus some great live music, what more could you ask for!
2. Opera Bar
This is a bit more pricey, but you can't beat the views! Situated right next to the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, there's nothing better then a glass of wine or a scooner whilst checking out the amazing views. Plus, a great way to mix with the locals!
3. Scubar
Another backpacker favourite, its right round the corner from Sidebar, its got a surfer vibe to it. If you decide to go for the Sydney Intro, then you'll get a surfing day, and as a reward for getting beat up by the waves, you get some free drinks vouchers, can't go wrong :)
4. Surry Hills
This is more of an area then a bar, its got an array of different bars and cafes, all with that unique vibe to it. Its a great place to mix with the locals, plus there's lots of restaurants where you can just chill and watch the world go by.
5. Scary Canary
Again, another backpacker favourite, its down George Street, so a but away from Sidebar or Scubar, but its a great way to meet new people with similar interests, cheap drinks and great music!
