Ultimate Year Out- Bangkok Round Two!

Hi everyone, it's Melissa and Becky here!

We're currently hiding from the rain, monsoon season really has hit. So we thought we would update you on how things went in Bangkok once we moved to Khao San Road.

We had heard a lot of talk about Khao San road but there aren't really many words to describe it. There are bars, shops and restaurants as well as street sellers offering many delights of Thailand including the odd scorpion or two... which we quickly declined!

In the day we checked out Bangkok's temples, including The Grand Palace, Wat Po (famous for the huge reclining buddha) and Wat Arun. It was really great to see and learn about some of Thailands history.

Top temple tip: cover up shoulders and legs when visiting temples as the 'fashion police' can be very strict. It makes for a very hot day, but so worth it.

After the temples we headed back to our accommodation for a freshen up before a night on Khaosan road. We headed to Silk bar for some food and then made our way down the road to see what else was on offer- there's so much to see!

We ended up in a club called 'The Club' which is a great place to meet people, have a dance and have a great time. When we were ready to leave we discovered the party carried on into the street to all hours of the morning. As we were up early the next day to get our train we turned down dancing in the street but we'll definitely be heading back there on our return to Bangkok in a few weeks time!

Right now were hoping the rain will stop so we can venture out the house without needing wellies or a boat. We will keep you posted on our adventures- as we're loving our time volunteering with RG's sister company i-to-i at the moment...
