Day 1: Arrive in Borneo
Land in beautiful Kota Kinabalu City, in Borneo, and meet your trip leader. Say hello to your new travel friends and watch the sunset together before going out to experience the buzz of Malaysian nightlife in the evening.
Day 2: Gaya Island
Leaver the city behind, as you embark across the sparkling sea on a speedboat towards Gaya Island, where teh rainforest meet the colourful coastal reefs. Get ready for an underwater paradise as you dive beneath the surface on a magical snorkel safari, and spot some of the incredible marine life that calls the reef it's home.
Day 3: Ocean Conservation
Get involved with vital conservation work today with the local team, as you help replant broken pieces of coral in the ocean and help regenerate the reef. Afterwards, make your way back to the sand and help the local team with a fantastic beach and mangrove clean, giving back to the eco-system, and making sure the island stays as a paradise.
Day 4: Rainforest Adventures & Zip Lining
Set off for an enchanting trek to through Gaya Island's lush interior. Take in all the sights of the beautiful rainforest before getting the ultimate adrenaline rush as you zip-line through Gaya Island to Sapi Island! This evening, travel back to Kota Kinabalu City for a night out with your group.
Day 5: White Water Rafting
Head out today on a fantastic unique local train journey through the rainforest to the stunning Padas river, where you'll get to try our white water rafting on thrilling grade 3 to 4 rpaids through the heart of the rainforest! Then, head back to Kota Kinabalu City for a free evening to explore the city.
Day 6: Kinabalu National Park & Hot Springs
Leave the hustle and bustle of Kota Kinabalu behind as you escape to the magical Kinabalu National Park. You'll stay in heart of the jungle, where you can gain a new perspective on the jungle in an incredible canopy walk. Then relax and soak your muscles at the Poring Hot Springs, and wander through the tranquil botanical gardens.
Day 7: Langganan Waterfalls & Jungle Resort
This moring, wake up to the sounds on the jungle, inlcuding gibbon calls. After breakfast, trek 7km through the rainforest to the spectacular Langganan Waterfalls, the highest falls in Sabah at 100m. After the trek, travel to Sepilok Jungle Resort to experience the jungle alive at night, where you can keep an eye out for orangutans swinging through the canopy!
Day 8: Orangutan and Sun Bear Volunteering
Be amazed at the Orange Rehabilitation Centre and the Sun Bear Rehabilitation Centre today for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Learn about Borneo's wonderful eco-system and wildlife, as well as helping prepare the animals food and and watch in wonder as they enjoy their natural habitat.
Day 9: Gomantong Caves & River Safari
Head along the Kinabatangan River and make a pitstop to the spellbinding Gomantong Caves, famous for it's bat caves. After arriving at your accommodation, you'll learn about the Orang Sungei, the local peoples of the area and their unqiue culture. Then, enjoy an epic riverboat safari to spot elephants, cheeky proboscis monkeys and even orangutans in the stunning jungle!
Day 10: Jungle Night Walk, School Visit & Cooking Class
This morning, head out on another unforgettable river safari to spot local wildlife. Then head to a local school where you will play football with the community and learn how to cook incredible local food. In the evening, go out for a fantastic jungle night walk, and see a completely new side of the rainforest. Finally, head back to the local community to party local-style with a rice wine and dancing evening!
Day 11: Farewell Borneo!
Wake in the rainforest for the final time, before enjoying breakfast with your group. Then, transfer to Sandakan, where the adventure comes to an end.

10 nights’ accommodation are included on this trip and will be a mix of modern air conditioned single-sex hostels, camping under the stars, eco-ranches, adventure lodges and jungle resorts. Most accommodation has limited wifi with the exception of Gaya Island. Mosquito nets are provided in the jungle resorts.
Rooms will vary between 2 to 12 people and you will need to bring your own sleeping bag with you for the camping on Gaya Island.There are a limited amount of sleeping bags which are available to rent for MYR60 locally which need to be pre-reserved when booking your trip. Please speak with a travel advisor for more details.
10 breakfasts, 9 lunches & 8 dinners are included on this trip. All other meals and snacks will have to be purchased yourself. Meals included will be served buffet style or as a set menu with drinks. Most dietary requirements can be accommodated (e.g vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free meal options etc).
Borneo staples include grilled fish, barbecued prawns, fried rice, noodles, and local vegetables seasoned with garlic, ginger and rich tasty sauces. Your expert group leader can recommend local eateries and restaurants for you also.
You should arrive into Kota Kinabalu Airport on day 1 of your trip between 6am and 6pm local time. Your trip leader will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation where you will meet your group.
Your trip ends on day 11 and we recommend you fly out of Sandakan Airport after 2:30pm.
The minimum age for this trip is 18 years old.
Usually, British citizens do not need a visa to visit Malaysia and will be given permission to stay for 3 months on arrival. Visas for longer stays or for non-tourist purposes must be obtained from the nearest Malaysian embassy before you travel.
If you plan to participate in the scuba diving during the trip, you will need to complete a Fit to Dive form prior to arrival. Certain medical conditions such as asthma, epilepsy and heart/lung conditions may prevent you from scuba diving and should contact your doctor for advice. Snorkelling will be available to those who wish to snorkel instead of scuba dive.
