Day 1: Cairns

Welcome to Cairns! You'll have a fairly relaxed day today as you meet our team at the airport to transfer to your accommodation and get checked in (for arrivals between 8am and 8pm). Depending on the time you arrive, you might want to head out into the city to explore your surroundings, or simply take it easy and go and find some delicious food in the evening.

Day 2: Tully River White Water Rafting

We'll head to the beautiful Tully River nice and early this morning for your rafting experience, where you'll take to the Grade-4 rapids at the Tully's upper gorge. We'll stop on the riverbank halfway through the day to catch our breaths and indulge in a barbecue lunch. Afterwards, you'll continue the rafting adventure down through the Tully's lower gorge. You'll be rafting for around five hours with a chance to try out some other activities too. Dry off in the local cafe afterwards and buy some photos to remind you of your experience.

Day 3: Fitzroy Island Sea Kayaking

We'll be heading out for another day of fun in the water as we make our way to the world-famous Great Barrier Reef and Fitzroy Island to go on a sea kayaking tour. Spend the first half of the day getting some expert tuition before heading out through the ocean. You'll get to enjoy the reef with some snorkelling in the afternoon if you like, before taking a rainforest walk on Fitzroy Island, and then try out the incredibly fun floating ocean trampoline.

Day 4: Hot Air Ballooning

It's another early start today, to make sure we catch the morning sun from the air. From Cairns, we'll make our way to Mareeba, where we'll climb into our balloon's basket and take off! We'll fly above the incredible Atherton Tablelands, taking in the scenic views with the birds, seeing how many wildlife species and waterfalls we can spot. We'll make our way back to Cairns in the afternoon for some free time in the city.

Day 5: Great Barrier Reef Snorkelling

We'll head out in the morning to ride through the waves to the Great Barrier Reef by catamaran. On arrival, we'll get kitted out with snorkelling gear and then head out into the reef via various dive sites to swim with the colourful marine life, from turtles and stingrays, to small (and quite harmless) sharks and tropical fish, and for a closer look at the plants and corals that make up this underwater oasis. If you'd like to dive, you'll also have the chance to do so today on three separate occasions (on successful completion of a medical questionnaire).

Day 6: Free Time in Cairns

You'll have a whole day free to do exactly as you like in Cairns today. And as there's so much to see and do here, it might be worth checking out the local attractions, guided tours and excursions available in the area ahead of time. You might want to go and explore Daintree National Park, go on a helicopter tour, or visit the city's botanic gardens.

Day 7: Farewell

There aren't any activities planned for your last day in Cairns, so feel free to head off as soon as you check out of the accommodation. If you're heading home, you'll need to arrange to make your own way back to the airport.

The activities listed above are all run as separate day excursions, so you'll be meeting different people on each, rather than being placed with one group. The above itinerary shows the excursions included in your package but they may not necessarily run in this order.

Please note: You will need to make an additional local payment of 90AUD (around £49) in cash on different days of your programme. This is for a Civil Aviation Levy, a rafting fee, and a kayaking supplement. You will also need to allow 10AUD for your return transfer from the Great Barrier Reef twice on this programme. Additional fees not included in the cost of your trip are reflected in the overall price of this programme.

Itineraries and activities are subject to change.
