Day 1: Welcome to The Islands!
Get stuck into the Galapagos on the first day of your island adventure! On Day 1, you’ll enjoy an incredible day on Santa Cruz Island – the second largest in the Galapagos archipelago. Head up to the Highlands to trek deep into the caverns of the lava tunnels – huge passages through the island, made by lava flowing deep underground.
After an included lunch, the giant tortoises await! Catch a glimpse of the Galapagos’ trademark animal in its natural habitat, at the sprawling El Chato Reserve. An included dinner will follow, back at your campsite – located 500m above sea level, in the heart of the Santa Cruz Highlands. Bed down for the night under canvas, surrounded by island sound!
Please Note: In order to ensure you can be joined up with your group in time to start the tour, please make sure your flight to the Galapagos arrives into Baltra Airport before 11:00AM. Group meet-up is at midday on Day 1, at Cerro Mesa Ecological Reserve Campsite. Please contact us for further details.
Day 2: Santa Cruz to Floreana Island
Wake up on Santa Cruz, and start your day off with a trip to the Charles Darwin Station – home to Galapagos giant tortoises! The station has been a centre for conservation and scientific research since its initial opening in 1964, and comes equipped with a fascinating exhibition centre for your viewing pleasure!
Afterwards, hop on a speedboat ride to Floreana Island, and be sure to hold onto your hats – the water can be choppier than it looks! After dinner at your community run guesthouse, the time is your own to catch a gorgeous Galapagos sunset at nearby Playa Negra beach, or cash in on the chance to explore the local town!
Day 3: Fun on Floreana!
Take advantage of a full day on Floreana to see the highs and lows (in geography only!) of this amazing island! Spend the morning on a snorkelling excursion to Loberia, and dive straight from the beach into turquoise waters! Later, you’ll have the chance to visit the Highlands of Loberia, and tread a seldom-visited path through the isolated landscape, and tales of the island’s fascinating history with piracy!
Spare time left over? Get stuck into some awesome optional activities – from swimming, to kayaking! Check with your guide for more details on the options available.
Day 4: Floreana to Isabela Island
Catch a glimpse of the Galapagos from above today, with a chance to scale an active volcano!
Hop aboard the speedboat again and make the crossing to Isabela Island. You’ll pitch camp in the sprawling foothills of the Sierra Negra volcano, and then get ready to make the climb to the rim. The crater stretches for an incredible 10km, and provides unforgettable views of the island below, for all those who make it to the top! Back at base camp, tuck into a delicious dinner before another night under the stars, camping out with the island on all sides.
Day 5: Isabela Island
After breakfast, enjoy a full day on Isabela, with free time in the morning to indulge in a number of incredible optional activities, from swimming to snorkelling at nearby inlet, Las Tintoreas. Come afternoon, your jam-packed itinerary picks up once more – take a stroll through the wetlands to the Giant Tortoise Breeding Centre, and observe more of these iconic animals’ antics in the centre that helped save them from extinction in the 1950’s.
Afterwards, there’s more ground to cover, with a visit to Flamingo Lagoon – the largest coastal lagoon in the Galapagos, and home to flamingos amongst the pools, mangroves and beaches this side of Isabela has to offer.
Day 6: Isabela to Santa Cruz Island
On the final full day of your trip, head back to where it all began with a day spent exactly how you want it! After breakfast, take the speedboat back to Santa Cruz for a day of exploration; head to the magnificent Tortuga Bay on foot, where you can choose to hire a kayak and explore further, or just relax on the white sands of the beach and soak up some Pacific sun!
Day 7: The End of the Road?
Depart at any time from Puerto Ayora, but who says the adventure has to end here? Speak with your guide about your onward travel – whether it’s home, or off on your next great adventure!
