Once week 1 is over you’ll have 12 months access to our dedicated Sydney jobs team to help you find work and accommodation.

Week 1: Sydney & Port Stephens

Day 1: Arrive in Sydney. We’ll meet you from the airport and transfer you to your hostel in the heart of the city. There are no activities planned for today so check in and chill out.

Day 2: Get to know Sydney. We’ll show you round the city today, then take you on a high-adrenaline jet-boat tour of the harbour! Then hit the town for a few drinks. We’ll also activate your Aussie bank account today, so your money’s sorted.

Day 3: Private Sydney Harbour cruise. Meet the team for lots of info on working and travelling in Oz. Then hop on board our private boat for a party cruise round the harbour, with jaw-dropping views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and a BBQ lunch on deck.

Day 4: Bondi to Coogee. Today’s all about sun, sand and surf on the legendary Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Stop to swim, snorkel and play some volleyball before enjoying a proper Aussie barbie and a few brewskis.

Day 5: Port Stephens. Travel to our bush bungalow in gorgeous Port Stephens. We’ll take on the vast dunes on a sand board, hike to a viewpoint, enjoy a wine and beer tasting in a local brewery and round off our perfect day with a beach BBQ and some cold beers under the stars.

Day 6: Surf lesson & back to Sydney. This morning we’ll head by 4x4 to a secluded beach for a surf lesson. Later, we’ll travel back to Sydney in time for another amazing night on the town.

Day 7: Sydney & onward travel planning. Our team will help you plan and book your onward travel. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy as you choose. Catch up on some sleep or explore the city further before another dose of Sydney’s belting nightlife.

Day 8: Jobs session. After a comprehensive 'how to find work' seminar this morning, we'll have a chat about the kind of job you’re looking for and sign you up on our jobs board. In the evening, get ready for dinner at Australia's highest revolving restaurant!

Day 9: Check out & onward travel. You’re ready to begin your new life Down Under! Either check out and continue on to your new accommodation, or stick around at the hostel for a while. Good luck!

Best of all, the hostel has its own lively bar, restaurant and nightclub!

You’ll also spend one unforgettable night in a typical Aussie bush bungalow in stunningly beautiful Port Stephens. Just a short work from stunning local beaches, this is an authentic experience and a real highlight of the trip! Rooms are on a mixed dorm basis with a shared bathroom, free Wi-Fi and shared kitchen and dining area.

After your initial eight nights, you can choose to extend your stay at the hostel, or look at getting a house share with other travellers. Our local team will be able to help you arrange this as well as advise you on work, places to visit locally, and travel throughout the rest of the country.

This trip includes 1 breakfast, 4 lunches and 2 dinners. You’ll need to buy the rest of your meals, drinks and snacks yourself. This gives you maximum flexibility to eat where and when you like and to really immerse yourself in the foodie culture of Australia.

Do Many People Travel Alone?

Yes, many people on our trips are travelling solo. By doing our trip you’ll be travelling with lots of like-minded people – it’s a great way to make friends!

Is It Easy To Find Work?

By doing our Paid Work Australia trip, you’ll get 12 months’ unlimited help and support to find a job in Australia. You’ll also receive lifetime access to our jobs app, which connects you to a network of employers all over Australia.

What Sort Of Wages Can I Expect?

National minimum wage is just over £10 an hour. Rates will vary depending on the type of job you have and its location (Darwin is the highest paying area). On average though, you can expect to earn around £10-£15 per hour.

Do I Have To Stay In Sydney?

Not at all! We have job opportunities all over the country. Wherever you decide to go, you’ll still have full access to the team’s advice.

Do I Have To Stay For The Full 12 Months? / Can I Stay Longer?

There’s no minimum stay on the Working Holiday Visa, so you can stay for a short while if you wish. We recommend a minimum of 4 months to make the most out of your experience. If you want to stay longer than 12 months, there is a possibility of extending your visa for a further year, but this depends on job restrictions. You’ll need to have undertaken at least 3 months working on a farm or ranch in order to qualify for a visa extension.

What’s The Best Way To Access My Money?

We’ll open up a local bank account for you. We recommend transferring your money into your new Aussie bank account to avoid paying international banking fees. ATMs are widely available across Australia so it’s easy to draw cash out and credit cards are accepted in most places.
