Soak up the glamour and excitement of Rio’s legendary Carnival on this fantastic group trip. Choose from 4, 5, 6 or 7-day options.
Day 1: Arrive in Rio
Welcome to Rio! Touch down at the airport and jump in a taxi to your accommodation in the city. Your accommodation is located in Lapa, where all of the funky Carnival events take place. When you arrive, you’ll be met by the local team, who’ll show you around the accommodation, give you a map and take you on a brief orientation walk.
We will all meet at 5pm for an introductory meeting over a refreshing caripirinha cocktail, and then get our jig on with a group samba class! After that, it’s time to head out and soak up the Carnival atmosphere.
OPTIONAL EXTRA: SAMBA SCHOOL ADD-ON
Book this optional extra and become a part of the epic Sambadrome Parade tonight! You will join a Samba School and parade through the streets alongside proud locals.This is the ultimate way to experience Carnival – from the inside! Your costumes will be delivered to your accommodation room. Dress up and meet us on Avenue Presidente Vargas. This parade is an adrenaline-pumping, multi-coloured extravaganza. Strut your stuff as you parade through the streets, and soak up this incredible atmosphere!
Please note: You will need to provide your costume and shoe size for your samba costume before you travel to Brazil. Your costumes will be ready for you when you arrive!
Day 2: Bloco & Sunset Boat Party
Meet your guides at breakfast and find out what’s on the agenda for today. For those who fancy more parade action, one of the biggest and most exciting blocos in Rio, Céuna Terra, often performs this morning.
This afternoon, we’ll head down to Gloria Maria and board a private boat for a 3 - 4-hour boat cruise around Rio’s gorgeous Guanabara Bay! Enjoy an open bar for the first hour and throw some shapes on the on-board dance floor! We’ll return to dry land at sunset and watch the cityscape turn golden orange. We’ll then head out for another big night in the city! Lunch included today.
Day 3: Pre-Carnival Party and Sambadrome Parade
Spend this morning chilling out on the beach. Either strike out on your own to find a stretch of sand, or join your guide who will take you to the best bits of Ipanema or Leblon beach. Tonight, Carnival hits top gear with the legendary Sunday Night Parade at the Sambadrome! Watch the samba schools parade their extravagant floats and costumes and cheer along to the festive drumming. Enjoy an included BBQ dinner before the festivities begin.
Day 4: Bloco Street Party & Group Beach Trip
If you have booked the 4-day option, your trip ends this morning. Check out of your accommodation and head home!
If you have booked a longer option, you will enjoy a free day to relax and soak up the Carnival vibes. Join an optional trip to Sgt. Pepper’s Bloco, a tribute to the Beatles with over 100 samba drummers. Drinks, hats and water-pistols are included – prepare to get thoroughly soaked!
You can then head down to legendary Copacabana beach with your group. Enjoy an afternoon of sun-soaking and sea-splashing, and then watch the sun set over the Dois Irmãos mountains.
Day 5: Rio City Tour & Rio Night Out
If you have booked the 5-day option, your trip ends this morning. Check out of your accommodation and head home!
If you have booked a longer option, you will enjoy a half-day guided tour of Rio. Discover the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, see the Steps of Selaron and ride the Sugarloaf Mountain cable car on this fantastic guided tour. Tonight, seek out the wildest parties in Rio with your group.
Day 6: Favela Tour, Trek to Dois Irmãos & Carnival Finale
If you have booked the 6-day option, your trip ends this morning. Check out of your accommodation and head home!
If you have booked the 7-day option, you will explore the favela Vidigal and see a slice of real life in Rio. You’ll then hike to the summit of the Dois Irmãos Mountain and bask in the glorious panoramic views across the city. Tonight, we’ll enjoy an optional group dinner and then venture into the city streets for a final night of Carnival!
Day 7: Trip ends
The 7-day trip ends this morning after breakfast. Check out of your accommodation and head home!

Accommodation & Meals
3, 4, 5 or 6 nights of accommodation are included, depending on which trip duration you book. You will stay in 3* hotel accommodation in the Lapa neighbourhood in Rio. The hotel has free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and a 24-hour reception. You will share a room with people of a similar age to you. The rooms all have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. A buffet breakfast is included on every morning of your stay.
1 lunch and 1 dinner are included on this trip, as well as 1 breakfast on each day of your stay. You will need to purchase the rest of your meals yourself. This is a great chance to experience Brazilian culture by interacting with local people and trying traditional food.

Arrange your flights into Rio de Janerio on your programme start date. Please arrive in time for your 5pm welcome meeting. Airport transfers are not included but are easy to arrange. These can either be booked in advance or you can hop into a taxi on arrival. Please contact us for more information about airport transfers. Your trip finishes on the morning of your programme end date, no activities are planned for this day and you are free to depart at any time.

Eligibility & FAQ's
The minimum age to join this trip is 18.
British citizens do not currently need a visa to enter Brazil. Please see the FCO website for up to date entry information. You will need a passport with at least 6 months of validity to enter the country.
What Is A Samba School?
Samba Schools are community clubs dedicated to exhibiting samba at Carnival. They have a strong local identity, and proudly wear specific costumes and sing local anthems. If you book the Samba School Add-On, you will be given the same costume as the locals and taught the words to their anthems!
How Much Does The Samba School Cost And When Do I Need To Book It?
Contact us for the latest price for the Samba School, ideally this should be booked when you book your Rio Carnival Experience but you can add it to your booking up to 1 month before departure. You'll need to give us your European shoe size and costume size (S, M, L).
What Should I Wear To Carnival?
Fancy-dress! Carnival is about wearing the loudest, proudest and silliest costumes you can find. You can either pack some fancy-dress items or head out shopping when you arrive. There will be loads of shops and markets selling crazy Carnival clothes!
Can I Book Extra Nights Of Accommodation?
Yes! In fact, we recommend booking an extra night of accommodation before the tour begins to give you time to recover from your flight before the Carnival madness begins! Please contact a travel advisor for information and costs.
