Day 1-6: Cambodia - Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, S21 and the Killing Fields, Kampot
Arriving in beautiful Siem Reap, our friendly team will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation. Depending on the time you arrive, you'll have the opportunity to explore the busy streets, colourful markets, and local attractions, or simply chill out. You'll get to bond with the rest of your group, learning how to make traditional Cambodian food and exploring the rice terraces on the city's outskirts. Halfway through the week we'll visit the ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat - home to some of the world's oldest and largest religious monuments. We'll then make our way to Phnom Penh where we'll learn about the country's devastating recent history with a sobering tour of the Killing Fields and S21 Prison. At the end of the week, we'll head south to the charming riverside town of Kampot to have fun chilling out and playing in the water, taking a boat cruise, and enjoy a gorgeous sunset over the mountains.
Day 7-12: Cambodia -Sihanoukville, Koh Rong Samloem, Phnom Penh
Week two starts with a stop off in Sihanoukville. Famous for its pristine white sands and views across the Gulf of Thailand, spend a bit of time soaking up some sunshine and trying out some delicious local food before putting on your dancing shoes for a night of partying. We'll then head out for a boat tour of the neighbouring islands, and drop anchor at some of the coast's best snorkelling spots. From Sihanoukville we'll ride through the waves to the exquisite setting of Koh Rong Samloem - another breathtaking island paradise covered in lush green vegetation and long white beaches. At the end of the week we'll head to Phnom Penh where you'll get some time in the afternoon to explore the city for yourself.
Day 13: Cambodia to Vietnam
When your Ultimate Cambodia trip comes to an end, you’ll need to jet over to Vietnam – the flight isn’t included in the trip, so you’ll need to arrange a flight from Phnom Penh (PHN) to get you to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN). Depending on when your Vietnam itinerary begins, you may find you have a couple of days between the two countries, so you can either spend some free time in Cambodia, or get to Vietnam nice and early.
We can talk you through the options, help you find accommodation, and sort out flights between the two destinations, just let us know what you feel like doing when you book.
Day 14-21: Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne, Nha Trang, Hoi An
Spend a bit of time getting to know Ho Chi Minh City and visit the crammed and colourful markets and street shops, take a trip to the National War Museum, or watch the world speed by whilst sipping iced coffee. We'll then head towards the coast, pitching up in Mui Ne and go and check out the beautiful sand dunes for a guided tour. There's time for a bit of chill out time on the beach and water activities before we move on to our next stop, Nha Trang. After a couple of days enjoying our all-inclusive backpacker resort, we'll catch the night bus to Hoi An where we'll take a traditional lantern making class and enjoy some free time to explore the quaint town. At the end of the week we'll spend a morning crab fishing and bobbing through the water coconut woods in traditional basket boats for an utterly charming experience.
Day 22-30: Vietnam - Hue, Phong Nha, Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hanoi
Heading north along the coast to Hue, we'll start week four with an open-top Jeep adventure as we head for the Hai Van Pass, fondly known as the Top Gear Experience. After exploring the former capital properly with a tour of the historic centre and Royal Palace, we'll make the journey to Phong Nha. We'll spend a day exploring the magical cave formations and waterholes of Paradise Cave, a mesmerising UNESCO World Heritage site, before making tracks on an overnight train to Hanoi. You'll have free time and a fun cooking class in Hanoi, then halfway through the week, we'll travel to Castaway Island in Halong Bay to enjoy views over the bay with a spot of lunch and an afternoon of water sports before partying on the beach in the evening. The next day, we'll go on a junk boat tour of the ancient caves and lagoons. After a chilled out morning by the beachside, we'll make our way back to Hanoi the day before our trip ends and enjoy an evening of shared stories and farewell drinks. There are no activities planned for the final day, so you're free to leave whenever you like. Your group leader can help you make arrangements for onward or return travel.

You’ll stay in a range of different accommodation during this trip, which will mainly consist of comfortable backpacker guesthouses. Most of your accommodation in Cambodia will have swimming pools and air conditioning. You’ll share a twin or triple room with other members of the same sex from your group. All of the hostels, lodges, and guesthouses we select for our trips are clean, safe, and set in great locations. If you are travelling with a friend or partner, let us know when you book so we can make arrangements for you to stay in the same room.
Some, but not all meals are included in the price of your trip. Meals outside of those included on the itinerary are yours to choose from, which is a fantastic opportunity to get out and try the local cuisine – which is absolutely delicious in both Cambodia and Vietnam. You'll be able to get recommendations from your tour leaders on which restaurants, cafes and bars to visit - there will be plenty of places serving authentic Cambodian and Vietnamese food as well as diners and eateries offering western-style dishes, especially in the more touristy areas. How Much Spending Money Should I Bring With Me?
A rough budget of around £120-£150 per week should be plenty to keep you fed and watered, but you’ll more than likely want to try out a few optional activities and have some extra cash for souvenirs, so make sure you budget for this.
I’m Travelling With A Friend, Can We Stay Together?
Yes! Let us know when you book and we’ll make sure you both get to stay in the same rooms.
Do I Need To Bring Bedding Or A Towel?
No need to bring bedding – it’s all provided at your accommodation. We do however recommend you bring at least one towel with you, but if you’re short on luggage space you can always buy towels locally.
Should I Pack A Mosquito Net?
You can do if you like, but it’s not necessary if you make sure the windows and doors to your room are kept shut. It’s worth bringing a decent mosquito repellent with you though!
