Once you've arrived into Sydney, we'll transfer you to the hostel and let you get settled in with your new travel buddies. We'll give you an orientation from our in country team, who will cover useful information about jobs and travelling around Oz and provide you with immediate access to a huge variety of jobs!!

There are stacks of opportunities available to those on a working holiday visa, although you can only be employed in casual work. The team will try its very best to match you to a job which suits you and your skills, and this could be anything from fruit picking to labouring to being a temp in an office based environment.

After your initial 2, 4 or 7 nights (depending on the option you choose), you're on your own — but certainly not alone..... for up to 12 months, you'll have the freedom to work, travel and have fun at your own pace, with the support of Real Gap or our Aussie partners in finding work and living life the Aussie way!

All in all, this is a great package for anyone who wants to work in Oz while having the Ultimate experience!

A group orientation will be held on the first business day after you arrive into Sydney. It lasts around 2 hours. The session is packed with loads of useful information including info about jobs; tax refunds, superannuation, travelling around Oz and for some the most important advice — where the best bars and clubs are in Sydney! There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

You will also receive loads of useful stuff during your orientation including a welcome kit and by the end of the session our friendly consultants will have you “work ready” by setting up your Australian SIM card, Bank Account, Tax File Number and Medicare (where applicable).

We organise loads of optional social events and parties — making meeting new friends is really easy. Activities you may wish to get involved with include wine tasting, bush walking, sport events, beach walks and BBQs.

Upon your arrival, our priority is to help find you a job as quickly as possible when you decide to work. Our consultants will work with you on your CV and match your skills to our huge database of jobs and as you travel Australia you will have access to our website so you can upload your CV and apply for jobs no matter where you are.  You will then be safe in the knowledge that you have access to all our job services for up to 12 months including regular email and SMS job updates..

We have local service desks located around Australia so you know that you will have access to local jobs help and advice as you travel. This is a nice feeling considering that over 240,000 people enter Oz on a working holiday each year 

There are lots of different jobs available to those on a Working Holiday Visa in Australia. The visa states that you can only be employed in casual employment during your stay. The team will try to match you to a job, which suits you and your skills, and even if your work experience is limited, you can still be offered work.

You may be offered jobs in a number of industries including hospitality, call centre, factory/warehouses, retail, labouring and fruit picking. Jobs can range from 1 day, through to 6 months and anything in between — perfect for backpackers who want to travel around a lot. The more flexible you can be with what you do, the more work will be available to you.

Rates of pay

As a general rule, casual work ranges from $16-$18 per hour. Skilled temping positions pay more ­around $20-30 per hour.

With the right motivation and attitude your working experiences in Australia will be positive and fulfilling. Be flexible. You never know where your job will take you unless you give it a go. People often refuse jobs because they don't like the sound of the work or that it isn't what they are used to doing at home. However, you never know when the next job will come along so make the most of every opportunity to learn and make some dollars.

And just think how much more you will appreciate those dollars when you are sitting on a tropical beach somewhere in Oz enjoying a cold beer and watching the sun set on another perfect days travelling. Here are a few tips to help get a job quickly:

Different jobs require that you have relevant experience or qualifications, such as bar work, construction industry etc. Various qualifications are required by employers, for example, the 1 Day RSA course (Responsible Service of Alcohol) teaches you the Australian laws and regulations of serving alcohol and is required to work anywhere that sells alcohol. Full details about these courses and the fees involved will be provided by the team at your orientation.
