First few days in Bangkok...

Now their 'Ultimate Year Out' has officially begun, Melissa and Becky have kindly updated us on their first few days in the buzzin' Bangkok. We must admit, back in Real Gap HQ we're very jealous! Here's how they're getting along so far on their adventure...

Hi! It's taken us a few days but we've nearly settled into how things work here in Thailand!

First things first, it's hot! Like, very hot! Be prepared to be very sweaty for the first few days.

After settling into our amazing hostel (Lub d - in Silom) we've met loads of great people and used the best trip adviser there is (word of mouth) to find the places to go.

We spent our first full day in MBK shopping centre, after a much deserved lie in of course, 28 hours travelling really makes you tired! It's a great place to go if you're new and a bit nervous of the backpacking lifestyle, however, be prepared to be attracted to lots of pretty things, and remember you'll have to carry them for the rest of your trip!.

For any film fans, especially fans of The Hangover, we've just come back from the Sky Bar, which is on the 64th floor of the State Tower in Silom, where they filmed a snippet of The Hangover 2. It's an open air bar and the views are insane! Drinks can be pretty pricey, but there's always water or soft drinks which aren't too bad.

We're moving down to Khao San Road area tomorrow which is another busy distract of Bangkok, we heard its pretty busy over there so we'll keep you posted how that goes.

Melissa and Becky :-)
