Thailand Experience

Week One: Sightseeing and Volunteering!

Your trip begins in Thailand’s capital of bustling Bangkok! You’ll be staying near the legendary Khao San Road, so be sure to get out and explore! The next few days are all about exploring Bangkok, you’ll see iconic temples including Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, and bike through authentic Bangkok communities for a chance to get off the beaten path! Next on your list is stunning Sangkhlaburi where you’ll visit Three Pagodas Pass and tour the diverse town. Round the week off with an amazing community volunteering project that’ll give you the opportunity to meet the locals!

Week Two: Tropical Trekking and Erawan National Park!

We’ll kick our second week off with some guided tropical trekking and a stay at a welcoming village where the locals are known to spend evenings drinking and singing with guests! You’ll get to go bamboo rafting and visit one of Thailand’s stunning Night Markets where vendors sell their exotic wares and locals buy gorgeous handicrafts. You’ll also have a free day to explore Sangkhlaburi, so let your guide know if there’s anything you want to get up to! We’ll head to Kanchanaburi this week and visit the magical Erawan National Park where you’ll be able to swim in the stunning waterfalls and check out the park’s diverse wildlife population and explore caves and forests!

Week Three: Culture, Cooking and Snorkelling!

Meditate at a local temple and get to grips with Thai cuisine’s intense flavours with a cooking class! There’s also a party in town where you can dance the night away! We’ll be heading to the gorgeous Koh Tao this week where you’ll have free time to top up your tan on the beach, go swimming or diving or find the latest island party! There’s a snorkelling trip scheduled, too (usually on Day 20 but dependent on the weather) so get ready to get up close and personal with the island’s marine life!

Week Four: Moon Parties and Koh Phangan’s Beautiful Bays

This week we’re off to the legendary Koh Phangan! Find your freedom over the next few days, you’ll be lounging on the beach and making the most of this stunning setting! Your trip is planned to coincide with a spectacular Moon Party, so you’ll spend one of your nights living it up on the epic island nightlife scene! There’s also an island tour on the itinerary, so you’ll be shown some of the area’s most exhilarating bays including Haad Salad, Koh Ma and Bottle Beach! You’ll head back to Bangkok on Day 28 for a final stroll around Koh San Road. Tomorrow, compelling Cambodia awaits!

Cambodia Experience

Please note that you will be responsible for getting from Bangkok to Phnom Penh . The flight to Phnom Penh is not included in your, but our flights team will be more than happy to help you and they are dedicated to getting you the best deal of the day! In some cases, there may be a few days between the end of your Thailand Experience and the beginning of your Cambodia Experience. If this is the case we’ll be happy to recommend places to stay!

Week Five: Cambodian History and Volunteering

Say hello to Cambodia! You’ll be met by one of our friendly representatives at the airport and transferred to your city guest house. You’ll tour Phnom Penh, discovering its sobering history as we visit S21 Prison and the Killing Fields. This is an eye-opening and emotional day, and an important part of understanding Cambodia’s past. We’ll coach to Siem Reap and experience the mesmerising Angkor Wat! There’s also a scenic bike tour where you’ll cruise the landscape and meet the locals! Begin your rewarding volunteer project at the end of this week, where you’ll be assisting with the building and repair of homes for local families.

Week Six: Kampot, Phnom Penh and Departure

Spend the beginning of this week wrapping up at your volunteer project – seeing the affect your work has on the local community is a truly valuable opportunity! We’ll then head to Kampot where you can spend a free day snapping shots of the quaint French architecture before we head out on a bicycle tour! Cycle through the highlights of this beautiful town.

We’ll head back to the picturesque Phnom Penh at the end of this week, and then it’ll be time to bid farewell to the group! Be sure to swap numbers and stay in touch – you never know when you’ll be planning that next big adventure!

Beach Extension! Week Seven: Beachside Bliss in Sihanoukville

If you’re participating in the amazing beach extension you’ll be departing for Sihanoukville around lunchtime! You’ll check into your guest house once you’ve arrived – it’s situated only 150 metres from the beach! You’ll have some free time in Sihanoukville for some beachside bliss, or get out and about and visit local temples! You’ll also be going to lively Koh Rong, famed for its vibrant nightlife! Spend some free time partying with the group and recovering on the beach! We’ll then head back to Sihanoukville for a great group party, and then it’s back to Phnom Penh for a final night of fun before we say our goodbyes. It’s been epic!

Accommodation & Meals

Accommodation is included throughout your stays in Thailand and Cambodia. You’ll be staying in a range of hotels, hostels, guest houses and local village stays. Accommodation will be on a single sex shared basis with shared bathroom facilities. If you are travelling with a friend or partner, please let us know so that we can do our best to accommodate you together!

Meals listed in the itinerary are included. This covers breakfast during the majority of your experience, and some lunches and dinners. Any meals not included will be up to you to purchase, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to sample a range of Asia’s culinary delights.

We recommend some of these well-known (and more adventurous!) dishes to try during your stay:

  • Pad Thai: A well-known Thai noodle dish with zesty notes of lime. A must try for most travelers!
  • Khao Pad (fried rice): A rice staple that can be ordered with just about anything, from meaty chicken and pork dishes, to seafood and vegetable based dishes.
  • Massaman Curry: A mild yet rich, fragrant curry with complex and exciting flavours. Sangkhlaburi is famous for its tasty Massaman!
  • Moo Yang: Succulent grilled pork paired with a spicy dipping sauce
  • Gai Yang: A street food staple of perfectly marinated grilled chicken, often served with sticky rice.
  • Moo Gratha: This is the common term for Thai style BBQ eating. You can expect to pay anywhere between 150 and 250THB for delicious ‘all you can eat’ fare. Most places will offer a range of meats, shellfish, vegetables and more. As you cook everything yourself at your table, this is a fantastic and social way to experience Thai cuisine and culture.

We understand that everybody has personal food preferences and that some travellers may have allergies or intolerances, and our team in Thailand will always do their best to accommodate for this. Please do note, however, that not all preferences or intolerances are fully understood in Thailand, as Thai people tend not to suffer from the same set/level of allergies and intolerances that we do in the West. Of course, intolerances and allergies won’t hold you back from travelling, but while your guide will do all that they can to accommodate for this, we ask that you be patient and understanding of differences surrounding culture and food preparation. Please also be aware that foods may not be rigorously labelled.
