Gap year Italy
Italy is so culturally rich that it’s almost hard to know where to begin. It’s safe to say though, that even with a year to burn, you’d struggle to take in a fraction of the art, history and architecture of this European heavyweight. With iconic cities from Venice, to Florence and Rome and more UNESCO World Heritage sites than any other country in the world, Italy is a dream for culture vultures. Its exquisite landscapes are no slouch either! From the soaring peaks of the Alps in the North to the turquoise waters of the South its diversity is extraordinary. And of course, there’s the FOOD! Pack some elasticated trousers and come ready for the best dining experiences of your life.
Adventure travel Italy
Adventure travel may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Italy, but there’s plenty here for adrenaline junkies to get their teeth stuck into. From mountaineering, skiing and snowboarding in the Dolomites, to body-rafting in the Alcantara Gorges of Sicily, wild swimming in the Apennines and a hair-raising 80mph zip-line ‘the Flight of the Angel’ in Basilicata, there’s plenty of adventure to be found.
Student travel Italy
It used to be said that a trip to Italy was a necessary part of a full education – we couldn’t agree more! Students of Art, History and Languages will have a field day in this enticing country. While Italy has a reputation for being expensive, the savvy student knows there are ways to travel here without breaking the bank. Pizza and pasta are almost always great value (and delicious) and bars usually offer great value aperitivoin the evening (lots of small bites with your first drink). With plenty of grand piazzas and the tradition of the passeggiata (evening stroll) it’s a nation that spends a lot of time outdoors as well. You’ll see people of all ages chatting on a bench with a beer of an evening, rather than in a pricey bar, so make like the locals and save those Euros!
