You’ll stay within the fabulous Lapa neighbourhood where daytime festivities and night-time parades are right on your doorstep so you can jump straight in to the party atmosphere. With a group and guide, you’ll experience everything this legendary event has to offer, including street parties, parades and samba dancing! Choose from a 4 or 6-day option, spending as long or as little as you like in Rio, making the most of the awesome included activities arranged by your English-speaking guides. Day 1: Arrive in Rio

Welcome to Rio! Touch down at the airport and jump in a taxi to your accommodation in Lapa, where you'll find plenty of historic buildings, trendy boutique shops, and lively bars. Our team will be waiting to welcome you and to get you settled in with an optional orientation walk. At 5pm, you'll meet the rest of the group at the welcome meeting before taking part in a group samba class! Afterwards, we'll party and soak up the carnival atmosphere.

Day 2: Bloco & Sunset Boat Party

Meet your guides at breakfast and find out what’s on the agenda for the day. For those who fancy more parade action, one of the biggest and most exciting blocos in Rio. This afternoon, we’ll head down to Gloria Maria and board a private boat for a 3-4-hour boat cruise around Rio’s gorgeous Guanabara Bay. We’ll return to dry land at sunset and watch the cityscape turn golden orange. We’ll then head out for another big night in the city.

Day 3: Pre-Carnival Party & Sambadrome Parade

Spend this morning chilling out on the beach. Either strike out on your own or join your guide who will take you to the best bits of Ipanema or Leblon beach. Tonight, Carnival hits top gear with the legendary Sunday Night Parade at the Sambadrome! Watch the samba schools parade their extravagant floats and costumes and cheer along to the festive drumming.

Day 4: Depart or Party on

If you've booked the 4-day option, your trip ends this morning. Check out of your accommodation by midday and head home.

If you've booked onto the 6-day option, you'll enjoy a free day to relax and soak up the carnival vibes. Join an optional trip to Sgt. Pepper’s Bloco or head down to the legendary Copacabana beach with to enjoy an afternoon of sun-soaking and sea-splashing.

Day 5: Rio City Tour & Rio Night Out

Enjoy a half-day guided tour of Rio starting with a drive through the scenic surrounds of Tijuca National Park. Discover the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and take in the astounding sights from Santa Teresa, the Steps of Selaron, and Sugarloaf Mountain. Tonight, seek out the wildest parties in Rio.

Day 6: Farewell

Your Rio Carnival Experience ends today so, once you've had breakfast, check out and explore the city at your leisure until you need to make your way to the airport. Ask your tour guide for recommendations on how to fill your time if you're planning to stick around in Rio for a bit longer.

3 or 5 nights' accommodation are included, depending on which trip duration you book. You will stay in a shared dorm in hostel accommodation in the Lapa neighbourhood in Rio. Your accommodation has free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and a 24-hour reception. You will share a room with up to three others of a similar age to you. The rooms all have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms.

A buffet breakfast is included each morning of your stay and one lunch and one dinner are included on the trip. You will need to purchase the rest of your meals yourself. This is a great chance to experience Brazilian culture by interacting with local people and trying traditional food, of which there is plenty of choice.


You will need to arrange your flights to arrive at Rio de Janeiro International Airport (GIG) to arrive on your programme start date. Please arrive in time for your 5pm welcome meeting. Airport transfers are not included but are easy to arrange. These can either be booked in advance or you can hop in a taxi on arrival. Please contact us for more information about airport transfers. Your trip finishes on the morning of your programme end date, no activities are planned for the last day and you are free to depart at any time. 


The minimum age for this trip is 18 years.

British citizens do not currently need a visa to enter Brazil. Please see the FCO website for up to date entry information. You will need a passport with at least 6 months' validity to enter the country. If you hold a passport from a different country, please contact your nearest Brazilian Embassy for the most up to date information. 

What Should I Wear To Carnival?

Fancy-dress! Carnival is about wearing the loudest, proudest and silliest costumes you can find. You can either pack some fancy-dress items or head out shopping when you arrive. There will be loads of shops and markets selling crazy carnival clothes!

Can I Book Extra Nights' Accommodation?

Yes! In fact, we recommend booking an extra night before the tour begins to give you time to recover from your flight and before carnival madness begins! Please contact a travel advisor for information and costs.

Varying group sizes
To begin with, many trips will run with amended group sizes, so you may find smaller groups than would be typical. This may vary by trip, or even by individual departure dates.

Whilst there may be changes on our trips, it is vital that you make travelling safer for yourself, your travel companions, the local staff and guides, and the people of the country you are visiting. You should follow all local laws and restrictions, and follow the guidance of the local team. In addition, you can help make travel safer by bringing and using your own face coverings/masks and hand sanitiser, social distance where appropriate, wash your hands frequently, and cover your face when coughing or sneezing.
